Gail Lynne (Fetter) Huber
May 25, 1948 - December 26, 2024
Gail Lynne (Fetter) Huber, born on May 25, 1948, in Galion, Ohio, to the late Rosella (Winch) and Eldon Fetter, passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2024, while riding her horse, Sunny.
Gail grew up in rural Crawford County, where she was active in 4-H, athletics and cheerleading. Her talent shone in horse shows and beauty pageants, where she celebrated numerous achievements. A proud graduate of Colonel Crawford High School in 1966, she furthered her education at The Ohio State University, earning a BS in Education in 1970, followed by a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Duquesne University in 1974.
On October 3, 1969, Gail married Michael Huber, and together they proudly celebrated 55 years of love and companionship. Following graduation from Ohio State, they relocated to the Pittsburgh area, where they met many lifelong friends and spent 32 years raising their two beloved children. Gail dedicated 30 remarkable years to the Hampton Township School District as an elementary school teacher, inspiring countless young minds across second to fifth grades. She passionately led student trips to historical destinations such as Gettysburg, Philadelphia and Wallops Island, Virginia, and founded Central Elementary School’s Science Olympiad, a tradition that continues today. Her significant contributions to education were recognized through numerous accolades, including the SSP Elementary Science Teaching Award in 1993, the Heart of Hampton Award in 1997, and the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 1998.
After retiring from full-time teaching in 2002, Gail and Mike returned to Dublin, Ohio, where she continued to make a difference by providing private tutoring and pre-school services for 11 years, nurturing the next generation of learners. In her later years, she focused on spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with Mike.
Gail loved reading, shopping, golfing, Pilates, decorating, and celebrating holidays. She was an avid supporter of Buckeye basketball and football teams and enjoyed spending time at North Myrtle Beach with family and friends. Gail loved the many hours she spent riding and caring for their two horses, Memphis and Sunny. She cherished being a grandmother to her four grandchildren.
Gail is survived by her devoted husband, Mike; her son, Mitch, along with grandsons Max and Jack; her daughter, Janna (Gerald) Parker, and granddaughters Zoe and Maya; her sister, Dianna (Rick) Zaebst of Bucyrus, Ohio; and sisters-in-law, Sherry (Gary) Holt of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Diane (Bill) Stumph of San Diego, California.
A celebration of life will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Dublin, Ohio on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at noon. A meal will follow the service.
