Refugee Assistance Program

At Prince of Peace we strive to care for and support each other, our neighbors, and the world. To do that, we offer many ways for our members to use their God-given gifts in ministry and to support various projects in our community and throughout the world.

Prince of Peace divides its Beyond Our Walls ministries into Local, Global, and the Refugee Assistance Program. Each of these teams works to partner with other ministries to help people in need wherever they are found.

The Refugee Assistance Program at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church focuses on awareness of the needs of our newest neighbors - those who are seeking refuge in our country - as they acclimate and assimilate into their new environment.

Awareness

To monitor the border situation and the ELCA response to those seeking a new life in the U.S.

To share information and resources with the congregation.

To develop relationships with those who join our community, recalling the path we are on as followers of Christ.

Response

To continue our partnership with the Columbus resettlement agency ETSS and Global Refuge (formerly known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service)

Action

To help local refugees get settled in Columbus and Central Ohio.

Welcome Teams greet new families at the airport and provide short-term support as they adjust to life in Ohio.

Welcome the Stranger collects household supplies for newly arrived families.
