Local Partner Ministries

At Prince of Peace we strive to care for and support each other, our neighbors, and the world. To do that, we offer many ways for our members to use their God-given gifts in ministry and to support various projects in our community and throughout the world.

Prince of Peace divides its Beyond Our Walls ministries into Local, Global, and the Refugee Assistance Program. Each of these teams works to partner with other ministries to help people in need wherever they are found.

Local Partner Ministries at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church focuses on awareness of the needs and relief efforts within Dublin, Columbus, and Ohio.

Awareness

To seek out and raise awareness of opportunities in central Ohio where we as a church can provide assistance through gifts of money, goods, encouragement, time, and prayer.

Response

To identify specific means by which our ministry can provide meaningful and appropriate support.

Action

To initiate and encourage congregational participation in our ministry efforts.

All of our ministries use our weekly church newsletter Peace Signs to announce their needs and opportunities to serve.

Please check Peace Signs and help out with the ministries that resonate with you.

American Red Cross Blood Drives

Kate Hoyt, Chair

Sign up here to give blood at a Prince of Peace Blood Drive. Every year Prince of Peace hosts several American Red Cross Blood Drives, providing space inside the church, organizing blood donors, and recruiting volunteers. Through this ministry, we support the Dublin community and also help to supply needed blood for the Red Cross. Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. One pint of blood can help to save three lives. It’s essential for surgeries, cancer treatments, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries.

Dublin Food Pantry

Linda Chlapaty, Chair

Dublin Food Pantry

The mission of the Dublin Food Pantry (DFP) is to eliminate hunger and food insecurity in our community by increasing access to food and necessities for those who need it most within the City of Dublin and the Dublin School District.

DFP relies on community partnerships, volunteers, and donors to accomplish our mission. In July, our church members are asked to sign up to serve at the pantry on Tuesdays.

Food Pantry Cabinet

Prince of Peace has a food pantry cabinet behind the Welcome Center. You are invited to contribute at any time during the year. We collect dry or canned goods.

Each week we have volunteers pack up the donations and drop them off at the Dublin Food Pantry in Dublin.

Go to the Dublin Food Pantry website to make a financial gift or see what items are most needed right now at the Pantry.

Dublin Special Olympics

Dublin Special Olympics offers year-round high-quality sports training and competitions for Dublin athletes with developmental disabilities. Dublin Special Olympics offers these activities in a safe and supportive environment, at no cost to the athlete.

Prince of Peace supports the Dublin Special Olympics with an annual donation of $1000 in honor our former church secretary, Lori Sprockett, who retired in 2016 after nearly 25 years of service. Go to the Dublin Special Olympics website to learn more or make a financial gift.

Giving Tree

Cathy Koenig, Chair

Prince of Peace has faithfully supported the Giving Tree for many years.

We work with the organization I Am Boundless, which offers temporary and long-term services, residential options, and family support resources to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Every December, interested members of Prince of Peace select an envelope containing an individual’s name and his/her Christmas wish list. The members then purchase gifts for these individuals. The gifts are placed around the Christmas tree in the Fellowship Hall and then delivered to staff members of Boundless who distribute the gifts to the residents. This mission is a wonderful way to spread the joy of the Christmas season.

Habitat for Humanity

Doug Stuart, Chair

Habitat for Humanity brings people together to inspire hope, build homes, empower families, and develop communities. Habitat for Humanity and its local affiliate Habitat for Humanity-Mid-Ohio are non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministries that encourage people of all faiths to work together to end substandard housing.

Prince of Peace is a member of the Northside Partnership, which is a coalition of churches from Clintonville, Dublin, Powell, Worthington, and surrounding areas.  This coalition partners together to raise funds and provide volunteers to build at least one house for Habitat for Humanity-Central Ohio each year.

Prince of Peace typically pledges funds each year and provides at least one volunteer group on a weekend to assist with a new construction project. Volunteers do not need their own tools or a specific skill set to help. If new home construction efforts are not your preference, there are many ways to get involved, such as working at the Habitat ReStore, assisting with building and painting playhouses, assisting with repair projects on existing homes, and many others. Direct donations to Habitat-Mid-Ohio are always accepted as well.

Help Your Neighbor

Barb Rubenow, Chair

The mission of our Help Your Neighbor program is to assist patients who have suffered a life altering illness or accident. Our goal is to help provide them with the resources and equipment they need to start rebuilding their lives. Our Ministry is not a long-term relationship; it is a helping hand to get started on the patient’s new life situation. Our goal is to keep the patient’s recovery on track and to keep the patient financially solvent as they learn to navigate their new world.

Jen Schiller, Co-Chair

Go to the LSS CHOICES website to learn more or make a financial gift.

This ministry helps survivors of domestic violence as they leave the CHOICES shelter and transition into their new homes. We supply families with housewarming Kitchen Kits, so they can start their new lives with the basic items for a functioning kitchen. These kits include dishes, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans, spatulas and more,

The items included in the kits are very specific per CHOICES, therefore rather than donating items we request money only for this ministry.

rides 4 refugees

Erik Berkman, Chair

Rides 4 Refugees supports our newest neighbors as they rebuild their lives with dignity. Refugees bring strength, culture, and resilience to our community—but without reliable transportation, even simple daily tasks can feel overwhelming.

Rides 4 Refugees meets this need by providing driver training and access to safe, dependable vehicles. This support helps refugee families get to work, attend medical appointments, care for their children, and move toward self-sufficiency—creating a stronger community for all of us.

Volunteers make driver training possible, while financial gifts help refugee families afford safe, dependable cars. Donating a vehicle you no longer need is another powerful way to help, giving that car a second life. Every form of support plays a role in helping our newest neighbors move forward with dignity and hope.
